Who We Are

The National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR or DAR) is a non-political, non-profit, worldwide service organization based on the three tenets of historic preservation, education, and patriotism.

The Lady Banksia Chapter, NSDAR, was organized in November 2021. The chapter was named after the famed Lady Banksia Rose, the world’s largest rose tree, first planted in 1885 in Tombstone, Arizona. The rose blooms once a year with white flowers. The canopy measures 790 square meters/8,500 square feet and the trunk has a circumference of roughly 3.6 meters/12 feet. Tombstone has an annual Rose Tree Festival every April with a crowned Rose Queen and a Rose Parade.

What We Do

The DAR is dedicated to promoting patriotism, preserving American history, and securing America’s future through better education for children. What members and chapters have done:

  • Restore and maintain historical sites
  • Preserve genealogical artifacts, records, and documents
  • Provide scholarships and awards to students
  • Promote education and citizenship through youth programs
  • Provide volunteers for Veterans Administration (VA) and non-VA hospitals
  • Create care packages for local troops and deployed troops
Membership

The DAR is an organization that has dedicated itself to service to America since its founding in 1890. The DAR has admitted over a million members and is growing every day. Members honor and preserve the legacy of their ancestors who fought in the American Revolutionary War or aided the cause in other ways, i.e., materially or financially. Any woman aged 18 years or older who can prove lineal descent from an American Revolutionary War Patriot is welcome to join.
